London has a good share of comic book shops, but Nobrow stands head and shoulders above as a bastion of independence in graphic form.
Since 2008 they've been doing their bit to keep print alive all across the globe, with an in-house magazine and publishing arm. They even screen print short editions of their books downstairs. With titles like ‘Time to Make A Monster’ and ‘Welcome to Your Awesome Robot’, this is less Marvel, more marvelous
They also represent a number of fantastic local and international illustrators such as McBess and Luke Pearson. It definitely deserves a look from anyone with an interest in graphic arts, comics or the printed page at all.
1) There are trains on the roof, graffiti on the walls and an arts venue inside so go down great eastern street towards Shoreditch High Street and you will find yourself at the Village Underground, where on Field Trip Day you will be able to climb among the trains on the roof! Be sure to stop by!
3) A block down on he corner of New Inn Yard and Curtain Road lies the foundation of Shakespeare's first Theatre and a mime serving coffee in a coffee shop. Definitely worth a visit!
3) Or perhaps you fancy some artistic cow or chicken? Take a right onto Garden Walk and turn right on Rivington to head to Tramshed for some arty food, and foodie art preserved above your head.
